Lin Zainab story behind the design.

Since i have applied to be a junior designer on linkden this was for SHIEN, i wanted to not only write articles about other designers but also talk about my designs, the story behind it as i believe there is a story behind every art work. This is what i learned from year 7 to year 9 art, design and media and the later at age 16 in my first year of college studying UAL level 1 art, design and media.

Later after i graduated with a certificate in higher education and not the full foundation degree in counselling and psychotherapy, i am a reading helper volunteer with coram beanstalk where we go into the school assigned training was held over zoom late August 2024 early september 2024 and October i could start. This literacy charity helps children to learn the love of books and reading, either you read to them they read to you or you read together, it is so different to phonics as they can design a bookmark to put it in the book that we were reading.

Also as i previously did a placement in a hostel covered wide range of mental health within my clients, and looking at mental health helplines and physical health helplines, i learned hand sewing, embroidery and crochet at a young age from my mother. Whilst i was studying in highschool and college and even studying FDA in counselling and psychotherapy i have been drawing designs, late 2023 there was TikTok fashion competition i entered and even told my friends yet when i read it i had to sign up, because i just had love and passion for fashion. Late 2024 in December 2024 i applied to different jobs on linkden with the shapes where i created two cushions that I’ve written about on my website, but by the time my application got through and i had my first session with my mentor we discussed fashion i showed her my sketch book with all my designs. She was impressed but due to the low budget and time i chose to transfer them to cushions.

Design number 1 – Hats and headdress.

So inspired by many designers including my favourite designer Kanga Dale Tryon for her iconic Kanga collection. There i different hats, party hats, winter hats as different fruits and food, derby hats, crowns. These hats and head dress where created as part of costume design and to keep people warm and cheery, when the weather is cold and breezy.

Design number 1 – The peacock Mind.

I named this the peacock mind because it was originally inspired by a peacock designs, the feathery hat, with of course the mind.org.uk helpline embroidered into the hat, as well as text helplines for people who prefer to text for help.

    Design number 3

This iconic party dress was inspired by the samaritans charity for 18 and over and the NSPCC for children and young people mental health service. Yes i know for children and young people they may not have the money to get those dress, but i am looking at other designs that are more child friendly. Also this dress is to promote Samaritans and work alongside them, as well as other mental health charities, like mind or even SANE.

    design number 4- SANE helpline

These dresses are not just to promote the two famous therapy services in lancashire, Minds matters and BME network to whom i had around 6 to 8 sessions first BME network 8 sessions person centred and CBT 6 sessions. they are good but you get put on a waiting list. So SANE is a mental health helpline, like mind and samaritans you can call or text when you need urgent support. Also on this SANE dresses and skirts are in done in memory of lady Dale Elizabeth Harper Tryon also known as kanga and her iconic kanga collection, she was also chair woman of SANE in which she did a luncheon at the royal lancaster hotel in London, Kanga diamond ball in December 1990, after her and her husband lord Tryon attended the movie/film premiere in the bleak midwinter. There she wore stunning black and violet dress that made her look like a queen, in fact looking at all the photos of in the bleak mid winter she was the only one with a stunning ball gown, she wore a similar on at the end of the year when she hosted the kanga diamond ball, the sane luncheon at the royal lancaster hotel, but that ball gown was in red and black.

This was part one of my butterfly boutique part 2 coming soon.

  • The health benefits of hugging and what it releases.

As i watch todays episode of loose women and how they discuss the importance of hugging, i adore the loose women how they come together not competing against each other and comparing each other, but coming together as sisters and families.

Janet is adorable talking about germs people carry and then people needing to go to the hospital, she is always sweet and funny lady. Something we need on television not boring people talking about things that do not make more sense.

The loose women mentioned what each psychiatric/mental health and therapist would mention that hugging and cuddling releases oxytocin and good for your mental health self esteem, when i see a person upset and sad i like to sit with them, showing them a kind, comforting smile and talking to them and if they feel comfortable or ask for a hug, i give them a warm hug and cuddle.

there different types of hugs with some you may consider with your partner or family and friends.

    1.) Bear hug –

    2.) classic hug

3.) The hug at the waist

    4.) The side hug

    5.) The hug from behind

    6.) The quick hug

    7.)one armed hug

    8.) The patting hug

    9.)The triangle hug

    10.) The unreciprocated hug

    11.)The catcher hug

12.) the eye to eye hug

    13.) The cuddle hug
