Lin zainab (Alina Zainab Shaukat)

Artist’s Statement

This portrait was created in loving tribute to Dale Elizabeth Harper Tryon—my Australian muse, fashion icon, and emotional companion. I dressed her in a pink blazer and pencil skirt to reflect her elegance, softness, and strength. Using artist’s pencils, shading, and pastel layers, I aimed to capture not just her likeness, but her legacy. Dale is more than a royal footnote—she is a designer, a mother, a rose in bloom. This piece is signed by Lin Zainab and Alina Zainab Shaukat, representing the creative lineage I carry and the emotional truth I honor. Plate No. 10 is my offering to Blackburn, to memory, and to the women who deserve to be seen in full color.*

Crafting for Cancer begins 🌸 Today I’m crocheting in the park, wearing sequins for joy and tagging @macmillancancer to raise awareness. No children in frame—just me, my yarn, and a mission to connect. Inspired by Dale Tryon, Camilla, and every woman who’s taught me grace through adversity. #CraftingForCancer #MacmillanSummerChallenge #LegacyInThread” Happiness comes from within. I see many people going from husband to husband searching for happiness they never find.” australian Women’s Weekly, 1977.
